It is with great sorrow I pass this on to you.
An Obituary printed in the London Times........ Interesting and sadly rather
true
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has
been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his
birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be
remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
Why the early bird gets the worm;
Life isn't always fair;
and maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more
than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in
charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but
overbearing regulations were set in place.
Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a
classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and
a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his
condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job
that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent
to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform
parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and
criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar
in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to
realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her
lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust; by his
wife, Discretion; by his daughter, Responsibility; and by his son, Reason.
He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;
I Know My Rights
I Want It Now
Someone Else Is To Blame
I'm A Victim
Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you
still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

Becky Wisdom
I was making my weary self some coffee this morning and started thinking about my life as a mom. It has truly been the best thing I've ever done...or even hoped to ever do. These precious little beings that God entrusted me with have enriched my life beyond my every imagination. I love them more than I could ever express as I'm sure all you moms can understand and would give my life for theirs without a second thought or hesitation.
Having said that, they also bring me the most FRUSTRATION I've ever imagined!!! ROFL So, I was thinking about what I would have liked to know from the very beginning...here's my list.
1) While pregnant, listen to every woman's opinion and advice. Then take what you want from it and let the rest go. If something doesn't SOUND right, it probably isn't, so be polite in listening, then move on
2) When it's time for baby to come, remember this is YOUR time. This is the last time in your life (until your death I suppose) that all focus is on YOU and you alone. Have who YOU want in the room, listen to your instincts and don't let others influence your decisions about the birth of your child. It's YOUR body and YOUR baby...YOUR choice. (sorry guys, but it's not you up there with your feet in stirrups is it now?)
3) At least TRY to breastfeed. God made mother's milk to be everything a baby needs; even the ability to change on a daily basis according to what baby needs at that time! No man made formula can EVER give your child what God can. Know that for their entire life, but begin that gift for them with your milk. Not to mention, the bonding this provides for you and your new gift is amazing and incomparable.
4) Shop yard sales!! Baby cloths you find at yard sales are practically BRAND new!!! They don't wear them long enough to ruin them so don't be prideful! Save money and get lots more than you'd ever be able to retail!
5) Buy a carseat that will grow with baby. Otherwise you'll buy three before they are out of it.
6) Do not yourself, nor allow others to bombard your infant with toys. They don't need them!! Get a few quality rattles, maybe a momento stuffed toy to grow with your child and call it good! The cost of all the baby toys vs. the time they will play with them is SO not worth it. Besides...I've learned that the more crap the kids have, the less they play with ANYTHING.
7) You canNOT hold or love an infant too much. And IGNORE anyone who tries to tell you differently. A child doesn't learn the trick of "manipulation" until they are at least 6 months old...until then, you pick up that baby when she cries, love her, kiss her, hold her until she falls asleep. She will be more secure and stable for the REST OF HER LIFE knowing that she can trust you in this very important stage. It's my opinion that anyone that says differently wasn't held themselves....how sad.
8) Read to your child every night from the time they are infants. It truly enriches their lives and makes them awesome readers. (Allison can read as well as I can! Mark read to her EVERY SINGLE night.)
9) Quality time does not consist of "going out" or doing "special things". Your babies need quality time of just BEING with you. Sit with them, talk to them, BE with them. The best way to have a healthy, happy child is to have healthy, happy parents who show affection and love every day.
10) Buy tylenol and give it to your child when they don't feel well!!! Seriously, if you have a headache wouldn't you take something??? I just don't get people that "don't want to over medicate". Come now people...no need for your baby to suffer!
11) The best cure for a crabby, screaming two year old is a good snuggle.
12) The best cure for a crabby, screaming three year old is a good snuggle.
13) Uh ya, just repeat the above for then next 6 years. (and counting)
14) TALK TO YOUR CHILDREN. Ask them how their day was, ask them how their friends are, ask them if they like their teacher. They LOVE to be asked, they love to share (I don't have a teenager yet can you tell?) and they love that you are interested.
15) Spend time together as a family as often as possible.
16) Remind your children as often as possible that their sibling is the only constant in their life from cradle to grave. Teach them to love and respect that relationship. Family is the most important thing in this life and they learn that from YOU.
17) Don't allow your child to be mean or nasty to ANYONE...EVER. Furthermore, watch yourself with this as well. Our children live what they know; set a good example 100% of the time! (if we shoot for 100%, maybe we'll hit 90 or so!)
18) It's okay to take things away. Just because they JUST got that video game YESTERDAY for their birthday...if they smack their brother in the head for being a twirp, it's OKAY to take that game away for a week!!! Teach your children there are consequences for their actions and FOLLOW THROUGH!!!! Once you SAY something, DO IT! If you don't follow through your kids will walk all over you.
19) Set time lines up for all major events in life. When can they start having friends over? When can they start sleep overs? When will they get their first cell phone? When will your daughter be allowed to wear make up? When can they date? If your kids knows from the get go when these things will happen all you have to say when they ask is "What's the answer to that question?". Makes life SO much easier for YOU.
20) Love and cherish your babies. They are young and dependant on you for SUCH a short time. Don't waste it. Don't live your later years in regret for what you didn't do with them, for them. You won't regret what you tried and failed...only what you didn't try and should have. They are a gift. They are precious.
Just my two cents on this cold Wednesday morning....

Mmm...inspiring!
Swiped this from my gf Missy.
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. - Emerson

Some cool things
I'm combining three different "feel good" things in one post.
Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guest room. Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, 'Things aren't always what they seem.'
The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest. When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field.
The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel "How could you have let this happen? The first man had everything, yet you helped him", she accused. "The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let the cow die."
'Things aren't always what they seem,' the older angel replied. 'When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn't find it.' 'Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow instead. Things aren't always what they seem.'
Sometimes that is exactly what happens when things don't turn out the way they should. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every outcome is always to your advantage. You just might not know it until sometime later...
Some people come into our lives and quickly go...
Some people become friends and stay awhile....leaving beautiful footprints on our hearts... and we are never quite the same because we have made a good friend!!
Right Now -

SCARS OF LIFE
Some years ago, on a hot summer day in South Florida , a little boy
decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house. In a
hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes,
socks, and shirt as he went. He flew into the water, not realizing that as
he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the
shore.
His father, working in the yard, saw the two as they got closer and closer
together. In utter fear, he ran toward the water, yelling to his son as
loudly as he could.
Hearing his voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim
to his father. It was too late. Just as he reached his father, the
alligator
reached him.
From the dock, the father grabbed his little boy by the arms just as the
alligator snatched his legs. That began an incredible tug-of-war between
the
two.
The alligator was much stronger than the father, but the father was much
too passionate to let go.
A farmer happened to drive by, heard his screams, raced from his truck, took
aim and shot the alligator.
Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived.
His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal. And, on
his arms, were deep scratches where his father's fingernails dug into his
flesh in his effort to hang on to the son he loved.
The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy after the trauma, asked if
he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his pant legs. And then, with
obvious pride, he said to the reporter, 'But look at my arms. I have
great scars on my arms, too. I have them because my Dad wouldn't let go.'
You and I can identify with that little boy. We have scars, too. No, not
from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars are
unsightly and have caused us deep regret. But, some wounds, my friend, are
because God has refused to let go. In the midst of your struggle, He's
been there holding on to you.
The Scripture teaches that God loves you. You are a child of God. He wants
to protect you and provide for you in every way. But sometimes we
foolishly wade into dangerous situations, not knowing what lies ahead.
The swimming hole of life is filled with peril - and we forget that the enemy is waiting to attack. That's when the tug-of-war begins - and if you have the scars of
His love on your arms, be very, very grateful. He did not and will not ever
let you go.
Please pass this on to those you love. God has blessed you, so that you can
be a blessing to others. You just never know where a person is in his/her
life and what they are going through. Never judge another person's scars,
because you don't know how they got them. Also, it is so important that
we are not selfish, to receive the blessings of these messages, without forwarding
them to someone else.
Right now, someone needs to know that God loves them, and you love them,
too - enough to not let them go. Always Tell Your Family And
Friends How Much You Love Them!!!

Jack wakes up with a huge hangover after attending his company's
Christmas Party. Jack is not normally a drinker, but the drinks didn't
taste like alcohol at all. He didn't even remember how he got home
from the party. As bad as he was feeling, he wondered if he did something wrong.
Jack had to force himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he
sees is a couple of aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table. And,
next to them, a single red rose!! Jack sits up and sees his clothing in
front of him, all clean and pressed. He looks around the room and sees that it is
in perfect order, spotlessly clean. So is the rest of the house. He takes the
aspirins, cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring back at him in the bathroom mirror.
Then he notices a note hanging on the corner of the mirror written
in red with little hearts on it and a kiss mark from his wife in lipstick:
'Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to get groceries to make you your
favorite dinner tonight. I love you, darling! Love, Jillian'
He stumbles to the kitchen and sure enough, there is hot breakfast,
steaming hot coffee and the morning newspaper. His 16 year old son is also at the
table, eating. Jack asks, 'Son... what happened last night?' 'Well, you
came home after 3 A.M., drunk and out of your mind You fell over the coffee table
and broke it, and then you puked in the hallway, and got that black eye when you
ran into the door. Confused, he asked his son, 'So, why is everything in such
perfect order and so clean? I have a rose, and breakfast is on the table waiting
for me??'
His son replies, 'Oh THAT... Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she tried to take your pants off, you screamed, 'Leave me alone, I'm married!!'

Homicidal dog owner
Free 5 year old lab to....anyone. Fixed and potty trained. Needs room to run and space that has very few neighbors.
THIS DOG. omg! We have lived in our house for over THREE years. And in that three years, not only has she socialized with the neighbors, but they have given her treats and TAKEN CARE OF HER WHILE WE WERE OUT OF TOWN! But still, she will bark at them CONTINUALLY at 7 in the FREAKIN morning...or any other time of day that she spots them...I just don't get it!!!
I'm so done. The dog NEEDS TO GO. If anyone wants her or knows someone who may want her, PLEASE let me know. She's a good dog otherwise...great with kids, pretty lazy and calm indoors, good watch dog. I just can't have her barking like this anymore. It's not fair to the people around me....or ME for that matter.

Not my week....
Last week I was all gung ho to get back into the swing of things health wise!! Spent a month making excuse after excuse to not eat right, not work out, etc etc.
Ever notice how bad habits are REALLY hard to break?
Oh I started out good enough...for 4 days I ate right, worked out three of those days and felt relatively good about it. Then day 5 hit and I got sick...spent the day in bed. Then used that as my NEXT excuse to not work out, eat right etc etc for the NEXT three day.
Ok...REALLY....I'm back on it now! LMAO!

Ballet
So, I have to admit that I was a bit bummed today. We went out after school and found some ballet slippers and tights at Payless for relatively inexpensive (thanks Mandy!! <3) Then we stopped in at Freddie's and picked up white t-shirts and some black underwear!! LOL I didn't want his tighty whities shinin through! We found the building on Willamette...really cool old brick building! There were SO many little girls in the most adorable little get ups....omg! LOL
We headed inside and met Lukes teacher Marc and he was super nice. We then went down, got changed (which was hilarious. Luke looked at me like I was crazy when I put those tights on him!) Then we sat around and waited. Watched some prissy little thing have a SNOT SLINGIN fit in the lobby...that was entertaining. Then Marc came to get the little guys and here I was all ready with my camera and you know what they have on the door leading to the dance studios? You'll never guess....a nice little sign that says "Only students and teachers beyond this point"!!!!!! WHAT??? I CAN'T COME IN AND TAKE A BAZILLION PICTURES??????? Well, no, Mom...you can't! AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!! I about cried! BUT, I'm gonna be a rule follower and not freak out on the teacher the very first day and he did pacify me with an "observation day" promise. But oh MAN how I wanted to watch my extactic son experience this on his first day. OH I was bummed! Still trying to to cry.
ANYWAY, all ended well, he loved his first day and Marc was cool. Luke said he was "very funny and silly" which is right up Luke's alley! Marc showed us the benefits of ballet for men in form of his muscles after class....WOW! LOL. He also eased my husband's mind a bit when I informed him that Marc introduced me to his WIFE. My Mark was relieved to hear that! ROFL!
Anyway, the only pic I got was of Luke in his get up. And here it is. Hopefully observation day will be soon and I can get some of him spinning on his toes or skipping or something totally masculine like that! hehe!

OHOHOH I do have to say one thing that I thought was hilarious. There was an advanced class that took place at the same time as Lukes, so while we were waiting so were they. Luke stared at the very pretty girls for a good 10 minutes before he went to class. This also made his dad happy.
